Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - KIDS WILL LOVE IT AND ADULTS CAN ENJOY IT!
I was very skeptical about this film watching the trailers for it, but I must admit it's cute with a good message for kids. The Chipmunks steal the show and Jason Lee has the classic "AAAAALVIN" scream down pat! Hey let's faces it, Chipmunks talk funny and these animated critters are just so darn cute! It's a pretty basic story, but the cast and FX make this harmless movie fun. The kids should really like this one and I would bump the rating up a notch for them.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Alvin!!!
Alvin and the Chipmunks was a favorite show of mine as a child of the 80's. Just the way Alvin was always getting into trouble was appealing to me and the show quickly won me over. The movie lived up to the hype.

The movie had some really wonderful animation. The chipmunks moving around in a real environment, and interacting with the humans was believable, and goes to show just how far technology in movie production has become in the last 10 years or so.

The movie told a really good story, but there were a couple problems I had. One of them is that, I thought Alvin was supposed to be the chipmunk that constantly gets into trouble? Well, you didn't really feel that while watching the movie. Theodore and Simon misbehaved just as often.

Also, while I was laughing at many of the jokes, I felt it could have been even funnier, especially since the guy from My Name is Earl played Dave.

Besides that, the movie delivered with adventure, excitement and everything else that makes a great family movie.

This would make a really good Christmas present. No, it's not just a Christmas movie- you can watch it over and over many times throughout the year.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - My family loves this movie...
This movie is soooo cute! My husband & I really enjoyed it & my kids (daughter aged 7 & son aged 5) sat through the whole thing, which says a lot right there. We all laughed out loud so many times. These guys are the cutest. The animation was excellent.

I've passed this movie around so other family members could enjoy it, which they did. I think almost any child would love this movie & the parents are suffering watching through a movie thinking they'd rather be doing something else. I think this is a great family movie & I'd highly recommend it.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - The Chipmunks Are Back, Garble, Garble!
Years ago every Christmas season there would be a hit holiday song that would be played everywhere. One year it was Alvin and the Chipmunks. Hollywood loves to recycle pop culture because most of its moguls lack even a modicum of creativity or originality so the long-ago Christmas chipmunks (the three of them) are unleashed again in this mindless movie.
It seems like it's for kids, but the path toward success in the music business seems like an adult theme to me. It's a mixing of adult ambitions and themes with some cute animal characters. I think kids will enjoy it because the chipmunks are always creating a mess and mayhem in the movie, defying adult authority. But it seems to me that a real kids' movie should deal more with fantasy and less with a quest for materialistic success.
I couldn't understand the words of the chipmunks years ago when they were singing the Christmas song, and I couldn't understand much of what they said in this movie. Either they were really talking chipmunk or else a foreign language; whatever it is, to me they are incomprehensible. I don't think it matters because the dialogue is inane anyway. Turn on you English subtitles to find out what they are saying--if you really care.
Giving animals human traits, humanizing them (anthropomorphism) is as old as storytelling. This appeals to kids because then the animals can seem like friends, toys, or pets.
I saw this DVD in Blue Ray, and the colors were gaudy and flamboyant, wildly way too colorful and bright. It gave everything a fake look, but maybe it gave it a fairy tale appearance.
I believe kids will enjoy the movie, and it's harmless fun.

Virgin America formally launches: Last week, Virgin America offered free Wi-Fi on its single Internet-equipped aircraft, My Other Ride's a Spaceship. Today, the service goes commercial ($10 for flights 3 hours or shorter; $13 for longer flights), and the rollout to other planes begins. Virgin has a special URL--http://wifitracker.virginamerica.com/--that takes you to a tracking page showing which flights in progress have Wi-Fi, but they don't yet tell you how to determine whether a given flight you'll be on will offer the service. With 24 planes and a plan to add service one per week, that shouldn't be a problem for long.

Heathrow Airport Coach Link adds Internet service: Icomera, a leading transportation Wi-Fi firm, has added free Wi-Fi to FirstGroup's RailAir coach service that connects Heathrow Airport with Reading in England. RailAir runs every 20 minutes for a 50-minute route. FirstGroup handles 3 million passengers a day across all its routes, which makes it a plum market for future expansion.

Awareness Technologies adds Wi-Fi positioning for laptop recovery: Awareness is the latest firm to partner with Skyhook Wireless to use Wi-Fi positioning to its products, in this case Laptop Cop, software designed to aid in recovery. The software starts at $50 for a 1-year license, with discounts for quantity.

Watching video through virtual-reality goggles of a mannequin's body while you look down at your own can trick your brain into believing the mannequin's body is yours. Swedish neuroscientists find that threatening the mannequin's body with a knife caused a physiological response in the person watching the video, indicating they have taken psychological ownership of the other body.

The White House censored her subversive Christmas tree ornament -- only to spread its anti-Bush cheer.

This year has seen several young companies--including Orbius--offering to harness the power of social networking for business.

It wasn't a Merry Christmas A few years ago while visiting friends in Germany, we made a trek to Verdun, France. As an American, I had no clue as to what was there other than it was an old city dating to the (Pre)- Roman era.
I was shocked and humbled to what I saw. The greatest battle (possibly in the history of modern warfare) was at the very place I was walking.
At the Douaumont Ossuaire, we video taped our tramping about. Below the bldg, there are windows that peer into...what to call it? A giant room filled to the top with bones and skulls. I taped for a few minutes and then felt an overwhelming sense of sadness. I was looking at 130,000+ forgotten warriors. I shut of the camera and destoyed the tape. This month, please take a moment to remember the fallen. My respect to those who died. As an American. Previosly.
