Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Piece of junk, Roland Martin, shame on you...
The rod itself feels cheaply made, all plastic, but I guess that's to be expected with a TOY like this. And yes, the safety button is an issue for smaller kids. But the biggest problem comes when the line tangles inside the reel, and believe me, it will happen. Incredibly time consuming to try and resolve the issue to get your child fishing again, and that's IF you can figure out how to make it work. Good/fun concept, horrible execution. You've been warned...

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Piece O' Junk
Bought this for 5-yr-old for a vacation at the lake. It casts and it's fun to see how far it might go, but that's where all smiles ended. It constantly tangled and the reel kept falling apart. It was a pain to keep fixing and trying to put back together. We spent more time fixing than fishing. We returned it to the store immediately upon return from our vacation. Do yourself a favor and go pick up a $10 theme fishing rod from Walmart that comes with a little tackle box. It will be more enjoyable for everyone.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Great starter Rod
I bought 2 of these for both young children. I was impressed on how easy it was to use. For a very young child it may be a little heavy but still with some help would be manageable. Good quality, easy to use, user friendly and for the price really can not go wrong considering an average kids fishing pole/real kit runs $20+-.

Well worth the investment for those "Help dad, I caught a tree again" children. Recommended

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - a fishing rod?!!!
my daughters are 8 years old-this is not an item for them!!! We were all disappointed-we always go fishing, and my girls begged to have these. They shoot out about 20 feet, which is right in front of your feet, and they catch nothing!!! They do better with a rod and reel, and live bait. We have told everyone not to buy them, unless you have children who are 2 years old and want to act like they are fishing-otherwise, not worth it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Our 6 year old grandson asked Santa for this Fishing Rod. He was thrilled to receive it Christmas morning. He mentioned to Santa that "it would go (cast out) 30 miles out into the water". Highly recommend to "young" fishermen. Patricia Taylor, Veneta, Oregon

Solyndra, a California-based solar start up, says it's figured out a way to make solar panels cheaper to install and better at producing energy—rolling them up. The company's solar panels are comprised of rows of cylindrical solar cells deposited on glass tubes, a new type of shape that purportedly lets them absorb more light during the day.

The shape also offers less wind resistance than conventional flat panels, making them cheaper and easier to mount on roofs. These advantages ultimately reduce the cost of generating power from the sun, though Solyndra couldn't give a direct answer on how much.

Considering that everyone, from Google to the Vatican, is installing a solar roof these days, Solyndra's innovations could mean a serious boost for the industry. But what's with not actually giving figures? That seems a little... shady. [Technology Review via Dvice]

The proposed acquisition of Macromedia by Adobe is not a done deal. Both companies are under the scrutiny of the SEC, and it must also be approved by stockholders. While Macromedia/Adobe gives this process three to nine months, some industry analysts feel that is being overly optimistic. But assuming that all is goes as planned, Macromedia will cease to exist. Everything will be in the Adobe name and with the Adobe interface.
