Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Lock ups make this thing a nightmare!!
We bought the Golf Logix 2008 model in Spring of this year (2008) and at first, it was wonderful. After about 6 weeks, it began "locking up" where none of the buttons would work, and we had to pull out the batteries to get it turned off. Per the Golf Logix support team, you HAVE to "connect the unit to a PC and reset the options" while connected to the internet to get it to work again. Fine, except it fails on the first hole or so, and I don't have a PC with an internet connection on the course, so no GPS for that round!! When it started locking up almost every time I used it, they agreed to send me a replacement unit, but not a refund! It came in a few days, but even though I did what they told me to do to avoid a second $29.95 fee for the annual subscripton, I was billed anyway and had to call several times to get that reversed--no one answered my emails on this either. I got the replacement unit on July 7, 2008, and it locked up once, so I reset it, then it locked up again today (Aug. 28). I was assured that this problem was "very rare" and the replacement unit would resolve it so imagine how I felt when I read how many other customers have been down this road before me!! If I could, I would write to Peter Kostis and David Feherty and tell them how mad I am that they endorsed this piece of garbage, making me feel safe in buying it. Since the clock is running on the one-year warranty, all they need to do to steal my $300 is wait a few more months and I am totally screwed!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Best choice
I debated between Skycaddie and this Garmin and am very happy with my choice. It's compatible with my Mac and the fee is less than Skycaddie as well as having a couple of local course that Skycaddie does not have. So far have played 72 holes with it on the same set of batteries.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - OK but has some serious faults
I ordered this product because of the Garmin name, the 30 day return policy, and the fact that it is battery powered. I already have a Sureshot re-chargeable golf GPS unit.
The first problem I encountered was the necessity to pay a $30 subscription in order to test the unit. I ultimately returned the unit well within the 30 days, but was out the $30 subscription fee.
I chose the unit initially because I sometimes forget and leave my Sureshot on the charger. I liked the item of a battery powered unit I could leave in my bag with a spare set of batteries.
The main problem I found with the Garmin unit is the limited info it will display at any one time. As an example, on my home course, the first hole is a par 5. A 250 yard drive leaves you about 250 yds from a heavily bunkered elevated green and about 60 yards from a fairway bunker. I wanted a lay up distance short of the cluster of bunkers below the green, but the only distance the unit displayed beyond front/middle/back-of-green yardages was the distance to and to carry the not-in-play fairway bunker 60 yds away. If I wanted the lay up distance I had to walk past the fairway bunker before the unit would display the next bunker. No matter what buttons I pushed I couldn't get the unit to scroll through other distances.
The distances the unit does provide seemed to be accurate based on my limited tests but the weakness noted above was a deal killer for me.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Solid unit ... but a little disappointed
The GolfLogix GPS is a very basic, straightforward golf GPS. I would definitely recommend it. Any disappointment I've experienced is due more to my high (unreasonable?) expectations than the quality of the product. For example, I was expecting a high tech, color display. Instead, the display is black and white and looks like something out of the late 80's. I'm technically proficient and I sometimes find it difficult to navigate the screens without getting lost. With time I've found the best thing you can do is leave it alone and it will automatically switch to the screen (e.g. hazard distance screen or center of green screen) you'd most likely want. I like the ability to measure off the distance I hit a ball. The only drawback is when I out drive my friends. They are typically asking me for "distance to the green information" before I get to my ball ... so I have to exit the "yardage of last shot" screen - mentally noting the yardage count when I exited - to give them the info. Then I restart the "yardage" counter and add the two results when I get to my ball. I've only found 1-course where some of the hole yardages were off and it negatively affected my club selection.

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Zero customer support!
I purchased a 2008 Garmin GPS 3 weeks ago. It's accuracy was marginal, needing to be 'modified' on several of the holes on my home course. Furthermore, the worst part, I made 3 (THREE) calls to customer support and none of them were returned. Each time I was instructed to leave a name and number and an associate would get back to me within 24 hours....NOT!

Of the two courses I used with the device, I had to modify both to increase accuracy to where I trusted the device on those courses. I happily sold the item for a bit of a loss.

Today's date? Why, it's...July 11, 2052, and man has been cowering in terror, self-sealed in his own living-tombs since that day of horror in...1952. Remember? 100 years ago, the sky above America turned black...with the dread flight of millions of ferocious, gigantic ants!
Despite the reality that the events depicted in "World War III with the Ants" are completely impossible (or so scientists would have you believe), this kind of thing would, just two years later, happen again. And twenty years after that, further proof that ants have it in for us. Mock them if you will!!!

CEDARBURG, Wisconsin (Reuters) - Presidential rivals John McCain and Barack Obama, back on the campaign trail after their party conventions, clashed over the ailing U.S. economy on Friday as unemployment hit its highest monthly rate in nearly five years.

The proposed acquisition of Macromedia by Adobe is not a done deal. Both companies are under the scrutiny of the SEC, and it must also be approved by stockholders. While Macromedia/Adobe gives this process three to nine months, some industry analysts feel that is being overly optimistic. But assuming that all is goes as planned, Macromedia will cease to exist. Everything will be in the Adobe name and with the Adobe interface.
